RS Pro Hydraulic Hand Crimping Tool
Brought to you by RS Pro, a hydraulic hand tool for crimping heavy-duty terminals (stock no. 119-160) onto aluminium and copper cables with a wire size range of 6 mm2to 150 mm2. The head of this hydraulic crimp tool rotates 360° allowing easy accessibility and crimping in confined working areas. A power supply is not required for this hydraulic hand crimping tool which makes it ideal for off-site use. The compact and light-weight design of this hydraulic crimp tool also makes it comfortable for single-handed use. The interchangeable dies snap fit into the crimp tool head and crimping is achieved through repeated pump action of the handle. Once full crimp pressure is reached an automatic relief valve produces an audible click to prevent over compression. A RAM retract mechanism is actuated by the release trigger and the release is possible part way through the crimp cycle. This hydraulic hand crimping tool is supplied in a plastic carrying case with space for 10 sets of dies
The die sets for this hydraulic hand crimping tool must be purchased separately and cover wire size ranges from 10 mm2 to 70mm 2 (see stock number 445-891)
Features and Benefits:
• 360° rotational head for access in restricted areas
• Compact, lightweight design, can be operated with a single hand
• No power supply needed, ideal for off-site use
• Wide wire size crimping range of 4mm2-150 mm2
• 36Kn crimping force
• Adjustable crimp stroke of 5 mm to 8 mm
• Automatic relief valve to indicate full pressure and prevent over compression
• RAM retract mechanism actuated by a release trigger
• Supplied in a plastic carrying case with space for 10 sets of dies
Typical Applications:
• Maintenance & repair
• Electrical Installations
• Cable assemblies
FAQs:
What is the difference between un-insulated and insulated crimp tools?
Un-insulated crimp tools are typically used for general applications, whereas the insulated crimp tools have been VDE tested up to 1000 V, designed for use where electrical current is present.
How do you maintain the product?
• Axles and other movable parts should be regularly lubricated.
• Lubrication* is recommended at least every 10,000 cycles whenever the tool is exposed to contaminants.
• Adjustment of the crimping die nests should also be checked. Readjustment of the pressure adjustment axle is necessary when the pre-load of the tool decreases significantly.
The Importance of a High-Quality Crimp
When a crimping tool is used on a terminal, two crimps take place at the same time. One is the electrical connection between the conductor and terminal. The other is the insulation crimp which provides strain relief against vibration and tension. It is important that the electrical connection is gas-tight without any voids between the wire strands and the terminal. If there any voids present, then corrosion can occur causing resistance and excessive heat which damages the electrical connection. Using a good quality crimping tool will ensure that a full, gas-tight crimp is produced preventing future deterioration of the electrical connection and insulation breakage.
