RS PRO Aluminium Blind Rivet, 4mm

RS PRO introduces a fantastic range of large flange standard open blind rivets. Designed to be easily installed and able to secure joints with short clamp lengths, these rivets are engineered to create a permanent mechanical fastening, they expand into a pre-drilled hole to create a strong and solid hold. The blind rivet can be installed entirely from one side of the material when access is limited to the fixing, unlike machine screws and nuts. Providing a larger surface area coverage, these rivets are particularly suited to situations where there may be dissimilar metals, where one material is softer than the setting material or for some plastics.
Made from aluminium to ensure weather proofing and corrosion resistance to elongate the life of your rivets whilst keeping it lightweight and strong. These aluminium rivets have a wide grip range with excellent load spread setting and mandrel locking system.

Rivets are mechanical fasteners that consist of a smooth cylindrical shaft with a head on one end and tail at the opposite end to the head. On the installation, a riveter places a rivet in a pre-drilled hole, and the tail is set or bucked (i.e. deformed) with a rivet gun, rivet tool or pneumatic hammer so that it expands to about 1.5 - 2 times the original shaft diameter, holding the rivet in place. They are used to permanently join two steel, aluminium or copper plates usually in mechanical applications where it is imperative that joints do not become loose and cause failure. As these are large flange head rivets they are ideal for environments where a larger surface area need to be covered. Most common, large flange head rivet applications include:
