What is A2 Stainless Steel?

Stainless steel comes in many grades, the most popular being, A4 or 316 and A2 or 304. These two grades both offer excellent corrosion resistance, easy to clean and good resistance to extremely low and high temperatures. The difference between A2 and A4 is that A4 stainless steel has molybdenum added to it to help resist corrosion to chlorides such as sea water and de-icing salts making it better suited to extreme environments and exposure to chemical solutions. Stainless steel nuts, fasteners, screws and bolts are often manufactured from A4 or A2 stainless steel as the metal offers strong abrasion resistance, good resistance to corrosion and reliable low levels of distortion.
