The IR OSLON Compact series consists of IR (infrared) light sources from Osram Opto Semiconductors. Their small packages, alongside high outputs, make the OSLON range high in efficiency and ideal for applications such as infrared illumination for cameras. Properties include thin-film chip technology, excellent heat expenditure properties and the ability to operate at high currents. These IR LEDs fall between the lower powered IR of the TopLED and higher powered OSLON Black series. Possible applications for these IREDs (infrared emitting-diodes) include surveillance systems, machine vision systems, gesture recognition systems and eye tracking systems.

Osram Opto Semiconductor’s SFH 4710 is a high power IRED (Infrared emitting diode) designed for use in industrial applications. With an output range sitting in between Osram’s Power TopLED and Oslon Black, the SFH 4710 is a mid-power LED offering a typical output of 270mW (miliwatts) from an operating current of 500mA (milliamps). The SFH 4710’s compact package features a viewing angle of 130° and a chip with an edge length of 750 micrometers (μm). At just 1.6 x 1.2 x 0.8 mm, this Oslon IR Compact LED is one of the smallest IRED devices within its output class. The SFH 4710 is ideal for applications where a high performance is required but where space is limited. Suitable applications for the SFH 4710 include surveillance, digital image processing, 3D measurement, pattern recognition and gesture detection.
