Miniature Ratiometric Linear Hall Effect Sensors

Hall effect sensors with output proportional to supply voltage and the strength of the magnet field
Single current sinking or current sourcing linear output
Rail-to-rail operation provides more useable signal for higher accuracy
Responds to either positive or negative gauss
Good temperature stability
Typical applications include; current sensor, motor control, position control, encoder, metal detection, vibration sensor etc

Honeywell Ratiometric Hall Effect Sensor, 4.5 to 10.5V DC, Surface Mounting - SS490 Series - SS495A1

Measure the voltage and strength of a magnetic field with this ratiometric Hall effect sensor from Honeywell. It can respond to positive and negative gauss to show imbalances at either end of the magnetic spectrum. A Hall effect integrated circuit chip provides a high level of temperature stability and sensitivity. This allows the device to function across a broad operating temperature range of -40°C to +150°C, making it suitable for use in hot and cold environments.

Features & Benefits

• Low power consumption of 7mA for energy-efficient operation
• Compact size of 4.06 (length) x 3 (width) 1.6mm (depth) for use in areas where space is limited
• Laser-trimmed thin-film resistors on the chip to ensure reliable readings
• Quad Hall sensing element minimises mechanical or thermal stress to give you a stable output

Applications

• Current sensors
• Motor and position controls
• Metal detection
• Vibration sensors

How does a Hall effect sensor work?

A Hall effect sensor like this one measures the strength of a magnetic field and converts it to a proportional electrical voltage reading.
