Frequently asked questions:
What is a fuse kit?
Fuse kits generally contain a selection of fuses and fuse accessories in some form of storage box. Generally used by engineers, mechanics, electricians and technicians, they are a convenient method of accessing suitable parts or fuses for repairs. Industries have kits in stock for maintenance and repair, usually preventing extended down time.
Common applications are automotive, labs, electrical repair and maintenance. There are also different types of fuses available such as glass, ceramic, LBC, HBC, ATC, anti-surge, quick acting, cartridge and surface mount (SMD). Kits often have mixed current ratings, materials, dimensions and tripping characteristics.

The RS PRO 420-268 is a fuse kit containing a range of different 20mm fuses for general purpose use. The wide range of fuse types makes the 420-268 kit ideal for maintenance and engineering activities.
The fuse kit comes with a plastic segmented case to help keep all fuse types organised, making it easier to find and use the fuse you need. Re-ordering parts is also really straight forward with part number information detailed on both the fuse packaging and the datasheet.
There RS PRO 420-268 contains 180 fuses in total with 10 of each fuse type included.
Slow Acting Fuses in Kit:
HBC: 1A, 2A, 3.15A, 5A, 10A
LBC spiral: 1A, 2A, 3.15A, 5A
LBC mid delay: 0.5A, 1A, 3.15A
LBC semi delay: 1A, 2A, 3.15A, 5A
Fast Acting Fuses in Kit:
LBC: 0.5A, 1A, 2A, 3.15A, 5A, 10A
What are LBC/HBC fuses?
LBC stands for Low Breaking Capacity and HBC stands for High Breaking Capacity. Breaking capacity, sometimes referred to as interrupting rating, is the maximum current which the fuse can interrupt safely.
HBC is suitable for direct connection to mains power supplies while LBC is only suitable to main connections where additional circuit protection is used.
