What are the different types of circuit trips?


There are two types of circuit trips: electromechanical and electronic. An electromechanical circuit trip like this one consists of two moving parts: a current-sensitive device and a thermal-sensitive device. These work together to determine when to open the circuit in response to a fault. An electronic circuit trip is a programmable device that measures and times the current flowing through the circuit breaker and delivers a trip signal when necessary.
