As an auxiliary contact, it’s an additional component you can add to your MCB to help protect the main contact in the event of a ground, thermal overload or short-circuit fault. It indicates whether your breaker is open or closed, so you know if you need to respond to fault conditions by opening the contact to release current and prevent damage to your primary circuit breaker.
