HexiWear Wearable Development Kit

The MikroElektronika MIKROE-2026 Hexiwear is an attractive smartwatch within a development kit form. Hexiwear gives you the opportunity to create your own custom wearable device which is compatible with iOS and Android apps.

The Hexiwear consists of a 1.1"full-colour OLED display surrounded by 6 capacitive touch buttons. It works on the NXP Kinetis K64 120MHz microcontroller, with 1M Flash and 256K SRAM memory.

How does it connect?
Hexiwear smartwatches feature built-in BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) which makes it easy to connect to other Bluetooth devices, such as smartphones and headphones. The Hexiwear smartwatch also connects to the cloud.

Can I use it out of the box?
Yes, the Hexiwear has pre-loaded applications which enable you to use it right away. However, developing your own designs and creating new firmware will make the Hexiwear truly unique to you.
The out-of-box Hexiwear comes with apps such as Weather Station, motion detection, pedometer, heart-rate monitoring and a flashlight.

How does it charge?
The Hexiwear Battery Pack (136-0856) can be purchased in addition to your Hexiwear smartwatch. Through the Battery Pack, you can charge your Hexiwear watch whilst also adding other functionality via a microBUS socket.
Alternatively, there is a micro USB port on the side of the Hexiwear which you can connect to a power supply.

What else can it do?
The Hexiwear may appear to be a smartwatch but there is, in fact, plenty of other things you can use it for besides monitoring your fitness. For example, mount the Hexiwear onto your wall and monitor the air quality in your home. It's up to your imagination.

What makes it smart?
Smart watches have an internet connection and usually feature other functionality such as fitness and heart rate monitoring. The Hexiwear board comes with these features but the great thing is you can add even more to it.

What functionality can I add to my Hexiwear?
Enhance the functionality of your Hexiwear smartwatch with click boards via the Hexiwear IoT Dev Kit Docking Station (122-2284). Your Hexiwear device connects in the centre and there are 3 mikroBUS sockets available to attach your chosen click boards.

What software does Hexiwear use?
Kinetis Design Studio features source files and complete hardware layouts which are available for you to use. There is also Kinetis SDK, PyOCD add-on, mikroC PRO, Hexiwear iOS app and Hexiwear Android App.

Does this Hexiwear come with a strap?
There are Hexiwear accessory packs available separately which contain a sports wrist strap, a keychain and a front cover. These wristband kits can turn your Hexiwear into a wearable and are available in different colours:

Note

The wristband is sold separately and it comes in 4 different colours.
