Molex ChipSIM Connectors and Cardholders - 91228 and 91236 Series

ChipSIM connectors (series 91228) and card holders (series 91236) designed for use with removable SIM cards in GSM (Global System for Mobile) communications-based systems. The ChipSim connectors feature a push button ejection mechanism for easy insertion or removal of the SIM card from the card holder. The terminals have a lead-in design which prevents stubbing during card insertion. A gold plated interface provides high durability allowing up to 5000 cycles. A back stop locates the card holder in the connector. These ChipSIM connectors are available with PCB alignment pegs and a range of button colours. The card holders feature an active latch which prevents the SIM card from backing out from the connector due to vibration. A button must be pressed to release the latch. The card holders also have polarization features for correct SIM card orientation. A side action spring holds the SIM card in place.
Both the connector and card holder feature a card detection switch that alerts the system that the card is being inserted or removed. The detection switch also protects the card data.
