Slotted Tag Fuses

Slotted tag fuses are a type of circuit protection device distinguished by the slotted metal tags that extend off the ends of the cylindrical fuse body. They can either be offset tags or centered in the fuse, according to whether they jut out from the top, bottom or middle of the fuse.

How do slotted tag fuses work?

Slotted tag fuses connect to the circuit by sliding onto a connector or fuse holder using their slotted tag. The metal tag conducts electricity through the fuse. When a fault is detected, such as overcurrent or a short circuit, the metal strip inside of the fuse melts, breaking the circuit and preventing any further damage. When a fuse has blown, it must be replaced in order for the circuit to function again.

Types of slotted tag fuses

Slotted tag fuses can vary in a number of different ways, including their current and voltage rating, the dimension of both the fuse body and the metal tags, and the fuse speed.
