Spring Washers

Spring washer also known as helical spring is specifically designed to provide a compensating spring force and sustain a load or absorb a shock. A spring washer is used to prevent components from loosening.


How does a Spring Washer work?


Spring washers work extremely well hence their use in a wide range of assembly applications. Standard spring washers provide the required seating and bearing surface used under a cap screw head.


Provide hardened bearing surfaces to create more uniform torque control


Provide more uniform load distribution through controlled radii (section) cutoff


Provide protection against looseness resulting from vibration and corrosion


The &147Split&148 in the helical spring lock washer absorbs initial driving torque and visually closes under nominal bolt loading. When tension in the assembly is reduced and loosening occurs, it provides resistance to the back-off rotation of the screw.


Tooth lock washers -internal, external, internal-external and countersunk external&151create a ratchet action by biting into the nut or screw head and the surface it contacts. Despite their widespread usage, tooth lock washers can scratch mating surfaces.
