Trolley Wheels

Trolley wheels are used with castors or axles to create movable units. These units can be used in a variety of large and small applications and can aid in the movement of large, heavy objects with ease. Trolley wheels come in a variety of sizes and are made from a range of durable materials for longer life and improved wear.

Types of trolley wheels

Trolley wheels are found in two main forms, solid construction or pneumatic (also referred to as hub and tyre). Both forms have benefits to a range of applications and are available in a range of hardwearing materials such as rubber, polyurethane (PUR), polyamide and polypropylene. Polyurethane wheels are widely used because of their very high load capacity and resistance to abrasion and tears. They're chemically resistant, making them suitable for use in hazardous environments. Solid rubber wheels provide a smooth ride and quiet handling combined with excellent age resistance.

Hub and tyre wheels have an elasticity that is particularly suitable for high loads and capacities. They give a cushioned ride, making manual trucking easier. Being puncture-proof, they're ideal for heavy-duty applications and work well on difficult, rough or uneven surfaces like grass and gravel. A tyre with closed-cell construction will not absorb water, freeze or crack, making it ideal for extreme conditions, with no need for re-inflation.

What is the difference between a castor and a trolley wheel?

Whilst often used together, castors and wheels are two separate elements. A trolley wheel is an individual round shaped wheel, which can be attached directly to objects for linear motion. A castor is a form of housing, often with a wheel attached, which allows wheels and objects to swivel and rotate. Trolley wheels are ideal for applications that require simple yet effective motion, especially when carrying heavy loads.
